Bogota, Colombia - Canard Solutions B Cycling Team announced today the retirement of their esteemed club captain, Gualterio Cuello. Better known as Tarzan to his fans, for his dashing looks and flowing hair, Cuello has had a remarkable career spanning over a decade. Cuello, who raced 215 times in his career and had 8 appearances for the Colombian national team, was the original captain for Canard Solutions B, has only ever raced for the yellow, blue and red and played a crucial role in the team's success.
During his time with Canard Solutions B, Tarzan led the team to 7 results in the first three seasons, including four wins. But his contribution to the team goes beyond his personal palmares. He has been teammate to 80, seen 11 staff members and 5 jersey designs. And who can forget his amazing impersonations, especially his Kermit impression.
But more seriously, Cuello was a dedicated teammate and mentor to the Canard outfit. From hill support to valley jobs, windbreaker to running bottles, no role was beneath Tarzan. His experience and leadership skills, particularly his mentoring of more junior riders, has been invaluable in guiding the team through the ranks to their current position atop Division 4. All qualities that marks him out as a true super-domestique.
"Today marks the end of an era for Canard Solutions B Cycling Team," said team manager, Juan Yetaes. "Tarzan has been a pillar of our team for over a decade, and his presence will be deeply missed. His dedication, hard work, and leadership have been instrumental in our success over the years. We only hope he accepts our offer as trainer, but in any case, we wish him all the best in his future endeavours. We just need another impressionist now"
Cuello expressed his gratitude to the team and his fans, saying, "It has been an honor to represent Canard Solutions B and the Colombian national team throughout my career. I am proud of what we have achieved as a team, and I am grateful for the support of my teammates, coaches, and fans over the years. It is time for me to hang up my jersey, but I will always cherish the memories and the friendships I have made along the way. Who knows you may see me in support of my beloved team sooner than you think."
Canard Solutions B Cycling Team wishes Tarzan all the best in his future endeavors and thanks him for his invaluable contribution to the team's success.
As Tarzan said himself, in his infamous Kermit voice: "If life were easy, it wouldn't be difficult."
¡Que dios te bendiga Tarzan!
